In my media writing class, one of our first assignments was to describe a commercial/ad that has “sticked” to us. Okay, now why is “sticked” in quotes? Well, I will tell you that many commercials and printed ads have this purpose to make sure you remember their advertisement. Why create an advertisement that is not worth remembering?
Now, I did my assignment covering the Beggin’ Strip commercial back in 2011. If you can remember this commercial, I don’t even know how you couldn’t, but it is about treats for dogs. So, the reason it stuck to me was the voice of the dog in the commercial. If I were to describe the voice, I would say it sounded alerting and exciting like something big is about to happen. I also happened to have dogs at the time and I referred back to them. I thought about how excited they were going to be just like the dog on the commercial.
All in all, the idea to make it “stick” starts with it being unique. The idea has to be creative enough to follow through.
