We are going to present a presentation this week in Design Development and my group has learned about the way we perceive color. Here is some information I have learned and will use to my advantage when designing.

We are able to have certain colors interact with each other based from the color wheel. So, the closer the colors are near each other, the more similar they are visually. Now, when colors are spaced apart on the color wheel, their visual appearances are contrasted. Depending on the type of theme you are looking for, it will most likely be the colors that provide contrast in your design. The different ways we can classify these hue relationships can have titles of being analogous, complementary, triadic, and extension. Analogous colors which are close to each other have a lot of visual similarities, but can be differentiated by the temperature in the colors. Complementary are just two colors that are opposite from each other on the color wheel which complement each other and when mixed, it results in a neutral tone between the two. Triadic can be known as split complements, but there are three colors that are exactly 120 degrees spaced from each other. While one color can be complementing the two colors that are in equal distance from their complete complement. Then, extension has a somewhat equal value between one color from another. One may have more color provided, but the other color may complete the design just by its presence of intensity.
