This form is where the eye finds this to be like a reference point, something easy to fixate on because we are used to seeing circular items in everyday life. The dot is all around us! It may be pretty simple, but the dot is the first stepping stone to all the other forms. A dot is also considered to be consisted of many different and connected parts. As the dot becomes bigger, which will cover more space, you will notice how you pay attention to the outer edge. No matter how much bigger the dot may become, it is still considered a dot of course. Now, add in the mix of a different shape, any shape, the center of that shape started out as a dot. Remember how I said that we circular items in everyday life, well if we have a picture of a CD as a graphic on something, the CD is considered a dot if we were to break it down to the most basic form. No matter what it may look like, it has the function to take space and have a relationship to adjacent forms.
